Whilst you can simply drop your hydrometer into the brew to check its gravity we recommend that you instead take a sample of your brew in a handy trial jar to ensure your reading is more accurate. 

Glass trial jars are preferable to plastic when sampling high strength alcohol as it can erode plastic and the readings are also affected.

This glass trial jar is also suitable for taking samples and using your hydrometer to give gravity readings for wine, beer or cider.
